Hello,

I’m looking for a good, used traditional bow with a draw weight of 70+ pounds at 28″. Cosmetics are not so important, so long as it functions well.

A recurve is preferred, but I would consider settling for a longbow. Preferred AMO is less than 60″. (I’m looking for a treestand bow).

I’m not very particular about brand, so long as the price is right.

I’m located near Hueytown. Send me a p.m., or email me at clh.bowhunter@hotmail.com if you have something in the neighborhood of what I’m looking for.

Thanks,

clh.bowhunter

There is a Trad group on Facebook. If you don’t use FB, I will be happy to post the search there for you, with your permission of course.

I tried to reply last week, but my laptop crashed while typing it. Yes, I am on Facebook. What is the name of the group?

Thanks!

Traditional Bowhunters. It is a closed group so you will need to ask to join.

ASTB- Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen They have a Facebook and a website. If anyone can help you find a trad bow, they can.
A 70# bow at 28″ is a tough order, especially to find one that does not stack…You gonna shoot elephants? A recurve is probably your best bow for that poundage.
Give them a shout. I’m sure you will get a reply and some feedback.
Good luck.

Ha, no, no elephants. I have a short draw length (24 or 26 inches, pending where I choose to anchor. I’m more comfortable at 24) and I want some extra heft in the event that I have to take something other than a broadside shot. I.E., enough to consistently penetrate a shoulder blade or a spine. Thanks for the sites. I’ll look into it.

I ordered a custom bow from bumblebee archery, so I’m covered. Thanks for all the help.

Okay, final update. I wound up with a 70lb osage longbow from Tallon Bows. Beautiful craftsmanship, and it shoots well.

Yeah, not planning any African Safaris, but if I got the chance to hunt bear our something I’d be good to go. By the way, I found Tallon Bows while shooting with the ASTB crowd. You were right, those are the guys to talk to if you need a piece of trad equipment. They have a lot of vendors at their shoots.
