We’ll be having our annual Marshall County Bowhunters Association Bowhunting Championship Shoot September the 8th with a shotgun start at 10:00am. This year, along with all the usual things we do (renew memberships, officer elections, business meeting, food, fun, & door prizes), this shoot will be special in that all proceeds will go to benefit the construction of a new home for Larry O’dell! Most all of us, if not every one of us, have been touched by Larry’s influence in our world of archery! I would even venture to say that to most of us, Larry has been a dear friend through the years! The house that Larry, Wyvonne, & Shannon are currently living in is in a state of irreparable condition. Though many of you may not be aware, there are ongoing efforts (donated materials, donated labor, etc.) to help our friend. Please understand, these efforts are not being made out of charity, rather out of appreciation! I would ask that all of you spread the word, and let’s get as much participation as possible! As I said, much of this is being made possible by folks who are literally giving materials, time, & labor! The proceeds obtained through this shoot will go to offset at least some of the expense that will most definitely be part of this effort! There is a need! The individuals involved in this need have, no doubt, “given” to all of us for “umpteen” years! What we’re doing, in light of that, is just “the RIGHT thing” to do! Besides, I know all of you and giving to a worthy cause is just in our nature!
Now, the tournament format will be as follows: Only 10’s & 8’s will count! If you’re outside the 8, it’s a 0, as we’ll not award 5 points for a “wounded” animal! And, since this shoot will be in preparation for the upcoming hunting season, we ask that everyone bring their hunting set-up. If you don’t have a hunting set-up, bring what you have! Again, we’ll start promptly at 10 with the 20 target shoot. Be sure to get there a little bit early if you’re renewing membership! Then, we’ll have lunch, officer elections, any business that needs to be addressed, & then we’ll go home.
Again, tell everyone you know to come out and participate! We’d love to have them as members, but, they don’t have to join Marshall County Bowhunters.
See ya’ll at the Marshall County Bow Range on September 8th
