Zone and Chapter Report
Northern Zone – Jeff Boland – All shoots have gone well. We have two left, ST. Clair on June 15-16 and
Heritage June 29-30. The Trail Shoot went well there were 77 shooters. NZ Championship will be July
13-14.
• St Clair – First shoot went well despite the cold. next shoot coming up June 15-16 – hope to see
you there!
• Heritage – Heritage is doing good. We have bought some new targets. Had 2 pretty good shoots
so far. Our next is Bow-up Against Breast Cancer, May 25-26. Pre-register to make sure you get
the shirt size you want. There will be a limited number of shirts for walk-up registrations at the
shoot. We will coordinate set up with James Hornbuckle. After that we have another ASA
Qualifier in June, the North Zone Championship and AL ASA Championship in July. We look
forward to seeing you all soon on the range.
Central Zone – Sandra Patterson – I haven’t heard from three chapters but Chelsea and Talladega are
doing good. Tuscaloosa is having an ASA Qualifier this weekend. Next weekend Chelsea is having a
qualifier.
• Chelsea – The Chelea club is doing good. The first tournament went well with 60+ shooters. We
have cut 13 new lanes for the shoot on May 18-19. Looking forward to seeing everyone then.
• Talladega – Had three good shoots this year ending with the Central Zone Trail shoot. We are
looking to purchase a few new targets and cores for next year.
• Lee County -A range grinding, plans to be ready for shoot on 6/8/2024. Peach Pit is ready if not.
• Peach Pit – Moving some stuff around on the range to great ready for next shoot, ready to step
up for Lee Co if needed.
Southern Zone – Connie Crews – All clubs are doing well. Gum Creek Archery is wanting to become a
part of BHA. Trail Shoot went well with a good turnout. I’m receiving multiple calls and messages
inquiring about shoots, some even coming from out of Georgia and Mississippi.
• WCO – Hosted Trail Shote and had a good turnout. 2nd shoot had lower numbers but still good.
The shoot scheduled for May 18-19 has been changed to June 8-9 due to the S3DA regional
being held by Poarch Creek Archery.
Monroe -February shoot had a good turnout, March 16 shoot only had 23 shooters, they have
one more shoot scheduled for June 22.
• Crenshaw – March 2 shoot had the biggest turnout of shooters so far for Crenshaw with 50
shooters. Cindy has incorporated Animal Bingo for the kids or non-shooters who are with
shooters on the range. The younger kids really enjoyed this. The next shoot is this Saturday.
Crenshaw will also be hosting the SZ Championship.
• Panhandle – Both Shoots that Panhandle has hosted have had a good turnout. They did try to
host a High Stakes shoot on the Sunday of the Trail shoot but didn’t get too much of a turnout.
They will be hosting the State Championship and are working on adding another range to hopefully
utilize for the championship. The Banquet will be held at the same location as last year. The
cost of the banquet tickets will be $25.00 per person due to the increased cost of catering. They
are also currently selling chances on a fun raffle for a Kimber 1811 ACP that will be drawn for at
the state banquet.
