Board Meeting

James Hornbuckle welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.
Phil Carter led us in prayer.
Sad news – James Hornbuckle noted that past president TH Turner and Daniel Morgan had passed.
Shane Bates read Article 2.
Minutes were presented printed and posted on the website. Mike McAlpine made a motion to accept as published. Wes Patterson 2nd. Vote – Minutes accepted as published.
Financial Report presented. Opened Regions account. Add Emily Hoskins to account in addition to James Hornbuckle. Both will have signer access and either can modify account, signers or close account as needed without the other being present. PNC Bank since Compass merged, has been horrible to deal with and James Hornbuckle has authority to close account without any other signer present. It was noted that old signers were still listed on the account after multiple trips to PNC/Compass to get this taken care of. This account will be closed after the weekend of the BHA State Championship and Board Meeting being held on August 27-28, 2022. Motion to accept Mike McAlpine – Wes Patterson 2nd. Financial report and changes accepted.
Zone Reports –
North Zone – Kaleigh Backstrom – going good, Jefferson County Shooting, looking forward to Bow-Up
Central Zone – Nick Ecker – not present
Southern Zone – Phenix Crews – doing good, Crenshaw new chapter doing good, other than that it’s the same ole same ole
Chapter Reports –
Heritage – doing good, Bow-Up in a couple of weeks – State Championship will be same setup as last year
Jefferson – doing really well, bought new targets – hosting ASA State
Chelsea – doing good, last shoot had great turn out, Mayor happy
Chilton – shooting this weekend, 1st shoot light turnout – ASA qualifier in July – S3DA in June
Talladega – 2 shoots both qualifiers – 45 shooters – last shoot disappointed in turnout, hosting Zone Championship in July
Russell – doing fine, next shoot May 28-29
Marshall – few work days, excited about shoot, doing good
Blount – doing well, looking to buy some targets, qualifier in July
Editor – James Hornbuckle thanked Larry McAfee for all his hard work for many years
Political Liaison – Nathan Worthington – going to CAB 5/21 will report at next Board Meeting
UDCP Director – Michael McAlpine – quiet. Nothing to report
Merchandise – still have shirts, need hats before Bowmania, may look at posting on Facebook for sale
Awards Chairman – Tamara Sharpe – need Life Member, Bowmania and Bowhunter of the year, jackets/awards
Tournament Director – Daniel Blubaugh – doing good, no issues
ASA Director – Renee Hornbuckle – doing good, working on SOY standings, getting ready for state
Social Media – Katie Skinner – doing good
WebMaster – Shane Bates – website issues, can’t repair, need to hire someone to fix it and pay maintenance contract – will get 3 bids
NASP State Championship – Sandra and Wes Patterson ran it – 8 volunteers – a lot of fun- need to reach out to NASP kids
4H big in AL – possible reach out to get them to BHA
Blind Draw – Wes Patterson – tickets printed and mailed to clubs for selling – Banquet in September- Wes will provide more information to Chapters and Board on how the night will go

BHA Targets – motion to repair or replace as needed –Motion made by James Hornbuckle- Motion to accept Mike McAlpine, 2nd Wes Patterson – called for vote – motion passed
Motion to make Jim Powell honorary Life Member for all the work he has done on setting up tournament spreadsheets and all the support he has provided to BHA and chapters over the past 10 plus years – Motion made by Charmen McAlpine – Motion to accept, Larry McAfee 2nd Mike McAlpine. Called for vote – Motion passed – Jim Powell Life Member #167
Motion by James Hornbuckle to merge Secretary and Treasurer into 1 position. Motion to accept Mike McAlpine, 2nd Wes Patterson – called for vote- Motion tabled till August
Bowhunter of the Year applications presented 1- Female, 1- Male – 2 Youth. Decided that both youth deserve the award. Called for vote. Passed
Need business cards, post cards and receipt book for Bowmania – Renee will order with scorecards
Need PA system for banquet – if anyone has one
Reminders
Big Turkey and Big Buck applications due by end of Bowmania.
