This weekend is the Alabama State Games. This is the olympic games of our state. BHA runs the archery venue for the Games Foundation. The event is held at Oak Mountain State Park. This is in conjunction with the Shelby chapter shoot; however, the games event is only on Saturday! Your entry fee Saturday signs you up in the games and Shelby’s shoot. I am asking ANYONE who can make it to the opening ceremony Friday night (tomorrow) to come to the B’ham civic center and join fellow archers in the parade of athletes (just like in the big olympics). This is televised live across the state, so BHA will have some P.R. We will have our banner saying who we are and it would be great to have a good showing of support. All I ask is that you wear something either BHA related or your shooter shirt or something with a collar at least (like at an ASA event). The opening ceremony is really a good program where the olympic torch is lit, along with other excellent program events. It is FREE! This year the theme is senior athletes, so especially those of you 50 and over are encourged to attend. We will be meeting in the civic center concourse about 6:30 with the ceremony starting at 7 PM. Look for the hundreds of kids standing in line for the parade, haha. Hope to see you there! Mark
