The Covington County Bowhunters will be hosting their annual “Shoot Out Cancer” charity 3D tournament at the range in Andalusia on Saturday Sept. 5th and Sunday Sept. 6th. The shoot will start at 8 am on both days and last card out at 3pm on Saturday and 1 pm on Sunday. All proceeds go towards helping a cancer patient in the county. It wil be a 25 target course with a couple of extra targets thrown in along the way to make it interesting. The scoring for this tournament will be 12,10,8 and zero. There are no fives for a wounding shot in this tournament. If you hit the doe on the bedded buck shot it is a zero and a five point penalty. Just got a call from my mom and she has donated some really great door prizes for our Shoot Out Cancer event this year. As most of you know it is our annual bowhunter challenge shoot to help everyone get ready for archery season. We will have an open class if enough shooters make it to the shoot. The scoring though will remain the same as it has always been since we started this shoot many years ago. The scoring will be a 12 ring which will be designated by a sign at the stake shoewing which 12 ring is the scoring ring for that target only. Then of course the 10 ring as always and then the 8 ring. Any arrow outside of the 8 ring is a zero and will not count for a score. There will be a buck/doe combo target and if you miss the buck and hit the doe it is a zero with a 5 point penalty added for hitting the doe. Relax though in all of the years we have done this only two people have hit the doe. So, please make plans to attend and we will have a great time and give away some very nice door prizes. Thanks!
