I’ve been asked this question myself this year so I’m asking all the members of BHA and ASA .What have you done to help promote the growth of archery in the state of Alabama this year. If you can’t think of something here is your chance to do something. All positions of the Executive board in BHA are going to be open this year at the August board meeting. The main ones are President/Vice President/Secretary and Treasurer; next is the Tournament director/North Zone director/Central Zone director and Southern Zone director; also Editors/UDCP Director/Tournament Director/Political Advisor/Awards Chairman if you know someone that would be good at one of these positions or you think you could be an asset to the organization let’s hear it . It would be nice to know who we will be voting for this year!

I have been Editor for BHA, off and on, since 1999.
In 1999 BHA was near closing. The board meeting at Autauga was only a few loyal members and officers. Leadership was minimal and we were at a loss for direction and our membership had fallen drastically.
We ALL came together and planned to build up the organization. The first order of business was to contact members and COMMUNICATE. It worked!! As Editor I published 2 magazines to communicate with our members and raised some sponsors for the publication. At that time I was working in Atlanta.
It is, AGAIN, time to gather the troops and COMMUNICATE. BHA is a very worthy organization of VOLUNTEERS. Without dedicated volunteers we die as an organization. Our organization has a proud heritage and it will only grow with the talents of members that step up with new ideas and energy.
We need new goals and direction for BHA in the future. We need volunteers that are passionate about archery, bowhunting, educating future archers and expanding our reach to the public.
COMMUNICATE and hold members together with membership cards, FACEBOOK posts, organized hunts, different archery shoots (American Rounds at 40,50 & 60 yards, Novelty Shoots, Public Archery Shoots [where everyone can SEE archery[, 3-D Line Shoots, etc. CONTACT the DCNR to have safety direction classes before hunting season {safety harness instruction, revive the instruction for bow safety and use…AND ADVERTISE these things!!!
One or two people cannot do these things on their own…VOLUNTEER TO HELP and BHA will grow and expand.
WE ARE BHA! Success is up to us…just like when BHA was established in the 60’s by a dedicated group of members that wanted bowhunting and archery to reach into the future!
