Thank you Kevin for putting on an awesome shoot.

Christopher Clark and Chance Engle shot in my group. Both are great shooters and all around great people. I had a blast shooting with them.

Got to see some old shooting friend Wayne and Ricky Selvage (glad to hear Wayne is planning on shooting Buckmasters with me again), Richard Brown, Larry Dilworth, and Keith Thomas. Proud to know these dudes are still the outstanding archers and individuals that I remember them being.

Now the Sasquatch story, “The Most Electrifying Man in Archery” is informed that he will be leading off on target #9. To The Rob, this is no big deal since he has a string of 8’s going that he would have been proud of had he been shooting his recurve, however with his compound he was expecting better. The shot execution had just not felt right, but The Rob just couldn’t figure out what the issue was. Now in years past The Rob would have gotten frustrated at his current predicament, but The Rob knew that if he continued shooting and concentrating on his shot process, all mysteries of the flight of the arrow would be reveled.

Anyway, The Rob struts up to #9 and to The Rob’s amazement there stands a Sasquatch target that looks like it’s peeing on a Deer target. Now up until this point, The Rob has been rather reserved as he had not shot with the other folks in his group before and he wasn’t sure how they would perceive his “greatness”. But the peeing Sasquatch target was too much for The Rob who blurted out “Man, they’ve got a Sasquatch target peeing on a Deer down there. Guess he’s trying to warm his meal up”. The whole group burst into laughter at The Rob’s observation. But they all agree that it did indeed appear that Sasquatch target was taking a weak.

So The Rob grabs his rangefinder and sees it’s 42 yards from the pink stake. No problem there, but The Rob didn’t bring his binoculars and can’t see where he needed to shoot this creature. The Rob thinks he know kinda where to shoot so he draws his bow, comes to anchor, and starts settling the 40 pin at 12 o’clock of where he wants to hit. At that moment, The Rob’s pea size brain starts doing flips because of the uncertainty of where to shoot and the pin starts the “death wobble”. The more The Rob tries to correct it, the worst it gets until suddenly the shot happens. Truly a surprise release if there ever was one. The Rob heard the arrow hit foam but had no idea where it was, so he ask “Where’d it hit”? Chance Engle, who was trying to hold back the laughter said “It’s in its left butt cheek”. To which The Rob says “Bet that got Sasquatch’s attention”. The Rob continues “See anyone can put an arrow in the vitals, but to put an arrow in Sasquatch’s left butt cheek, now that right there is a special kinda trick shooting”. The whole group was rolling at this point. They all proceed to make excellent shots on the “Peeing Sasquatch” target as we are all referring to it as at this point. A start walking to our next target.

Now what might have made others mad was a blessing to The Rob. See the mental break down on the Sasquatch target made one of the issues The Rob had been having very clear, he wasn’t trusting the shot. Now that the issue is known to The Rob, he knew how to fix it, which is to just relax and shoot like the “Pin Shootin’ Extraordinaire” that he is. Within a few targets, The Rob started shooting like The Rob of old rattling off four 12″s in a roll at one point. And a funny thing happened, the rest of the group started talking more and weren’t near as tense. And the more relax they got, the better they shot too. Funny how that happened, ain’t it?

Much like we Christians find it the hardest to pray when we need to pray the most, we Archers tend to not truth our shots when we need to the most. Good lesson learned for both life and archery.

I apologize for the late reply. Taylor Riley’s score should be listed as Middle School Open as she shot 10 unknown/10 known. Can that please be updated? Thank you.
