I just wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to Chris Mann and they members of the Alexander City Archery Club! Let me tell you, these guys and gals worked their rear ends off to setup that range. The targets were awesome, the cores were excellent, and the terrain was challenging (in a very good way). There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes of any shoot, and this event was NO exception.
Now, full disclosure. I have NEVER “directed” a SOYT event. Basically this means I have never dealt with the forms, paperwork, spreadsheets, or logistics of a SOYT. I had NO CLUE what needed to be done. Why? I have never done it before. This being the first SOYT of the 2019 season, it also meant the spreadsheet was not fully “tested”. That is where I want to send kudos to Amanda Adams, James Hornbuckle, and James Powell. Amanda worked diligently to make sure I got what I needed, and James Powell built and edited, and then again built and edited the SOYT spreadsheet. Let me just say I kinda’ know what I am doing with spreadsheets, and I am pretty good a pivot tables, but James has published an elegant process. With all of this being said I just want to say THANK YOU to Amanda, James (H) and James (P).
With all of that out of the way, the real hero of this weekend was and is Chris Mann (and his club). His club did 99% of what it took to make the shoot a success. Also, God blessed him with the skills, and God made the weekend beautiful for a great event.
I am looking forward to the R100 this weekend. For all of those who can make it, please know you have, and will be prayed for in your journey.
All the best,
Sam Riley
