Well it would appear that another 3D season has just about come and gone as the year winds down. College football and hunting season are just around the corner and my final 3D shoot of the year is now in the books. I look back over 2013 and see the many changes we have faced together. Covington County Bowhunters has had a few major blows dealt to our club but we as a group have managed to carry on and complete our year and even though things were lookinf pretty dismal a few months ago, it is beginning to look like 2014 will be a great new adventure for our club as we see the move of our core sponsor, White Oak Archery to Andalusia. As in all things new, there are always scary what if’s and maybe’s but I believe that we will be a stronger and more prosperous chapter with the move to Andalusia. I think that Andalusia has the potential for an archery park like Tuscaloosa and several other locations around the state now have. The new location for White Oak Archery is going to be in a prime location in Andalusia and the archery range will be located not too far away from there. BHA will see some new and exciting things coming for 2014 with the central and southern zones trying the new speed limit’s and some new classes for their local shoots. I think that with the adding of two more ASA Pro/Ams to Alabama that archery will reach a new level of participation in our great state. I have been told that ASA has now added a senior bowhunter class to it’s lineup for 2014. I challenge our senior bowhunters to step up and show the rest of the country the level of shooting that I have seen from our senior bowhunters. Rick Vance,John McCreaery, Larry McAfee, Danny Peppers,Stanley Peppers, Eddie Peppers, Kevin Sasser and the list goes on and on of people in our organization that I believe that can compete on a national level in this class. If you look at the scores of all of the ASA Pro/Ams and IBO triple crown shoots, there are a lot of BHA members that compete at the national level. make plans now for 2014 to be the year that you come out and compete in these shoots in our state and represent BHA on a national stage. I hope and pray that all of you have a great and successful hunting season but above all a SAFE one. Come back next year and we will see you on a 3D range somewhere in our great state beginning in February of 2014……..

I agree.
Great post , Danny.
It’s sad to see another 3-D season pass by, but the good part is archery hunting season!
I hope that the new rules adopted by the Central and Southern BHA Zones will bring more shooters to 3-D next season as they hear about the new rules. This will be a creative experiment and the ones that will make it work are the members that spread the word to get those bowhunters and ASA shooters.
I have one more BHA Chapter 3-D shoot in Talladega this weekend. I realize it is a BIG football weekend, so COME EARLY and support this BHA Chapter.
All you hunters out there have a SAFE and productive season!!Laugh

I had really wanted to attend the last shoot of the year at the Talladega chapter this weekend. I had promised my family that I would go with them this weekend for a short vacation as I have been gone all over the country this year competing in ASA and IBO shoots as well as the BHA trail shoots and local chapter shoots whenever possible. Good luck to those that do make it to Talladega for their shoot. I look forward to making at least one shoot in each of the central zone shoots next year that are not too far away from Covington County. I think that in the last two years, I have made it to about 80% of the central zone shoots with the farthest being Shelby County. I hope to make it to several that I have not been able to go to before. I always enjoy shooting new places and getting to meet new friends along the way. I think that I made it to all of the central zone chapters this year but a couple of them. I also got to make it to the two northern trail shoot chapters and they put on a good shoot at both of those. Autauga,Alexander City,Lee County, Tusdcaloosa,Shelby County all hosted great shoots that I was fortunate enough to attend this year. It takes great dedicated people to keep hosting these great events year aftr year. I am fortunate to be able to make the trips to as many as I do each year. Thanks to all of you that do the hard work of setting up and taking down ranges and providing us with such awesome places to shoot!
