Had to get up at 3am and make the drive from Covington County up to Heritage Archery Park for the ASA State Shoot Saturday morning. It was well worth the loss of a couple of hours sleep and the long drive up there. The shoot was ran extremely well. We were sent to target number eleven and came back around to target thirty. I was skeptical at first but it really worked out well. There were some short delays but that is to be expected with an event as big as the ASA State. The course ran well. The targets were setup in a way to make it fun and challenging. Several times the S3DA kids came by to see if we needed any water or snacks and a couple of the adults stopped by to ask how we liked the course. I was blessed to be in a great group of guys that really helped me and made the shoot very enjoyable for me. Thanks very much to Roy, Gary and David for making my day so much better and helping me with tips and advice on my bow setup.
Thanks to Heritage Archery for all of the hard work that went into hosting this year’s ASA State. The dedication and hard work was obvious and I appreciate the effort and time it took to host such a great event. I look forward to seeing everyone either at the ASA Pro/Am in Cullman or the BHA State shoot in Eufaula. Please check out the post I put on the forum about the Friday night indoor shoot before the BHA State Championship. I posted some pictures of some of the targets and the range to give you an idea of the fun targets that they have. You shoot one arrow at each target. Score that arrow then everyone moves over to the next target. You shoot two rounds for a total of 30 targets. As you may can see in the picture of the range there are a few 3D targets mixed in with the paper targets. Center 12’s but you can call the 14 ring if you are feeling really confident or lucky… It is worth the time to make the shoot just to watch the kids having so much fun. Thanks again to all of the great folks that worked so hard to make this year’s ASA the great event it has become known for.
