I want to thank the guys who came and volunteered at the event yesterday. The guys who worked the 3-D event outside had to endure the cold and wind but got the job done! We were short-handed as usual and because the line of kids wanting to shoot never ended, they NEVER took a break even for lunch for nearly eight hours. We had 293 rounds shot by kids putting up with the cold, too. Thanks to the DCNR for letting us have kids experience 3-D, many had never done it before. The guys on the shooting lanes were very patient and taught kid after kid the aspects of shooting animal targets. Thanks to Mac for making the awards.Even though he and Chester had the “cush” jobs inside where it was warm, I know they worked hard, too. Another great day for archery in Alabama!!!

It was an uplifting experience to see all those kids shooting bows in competition!
A HUGE “Thank You” to the Alabama DCNR and ALL the officers and employees that make this NASP work and GROW in Alabama!!!
A personal thank you to my friend and 3-D car pool partner for going with me to experience his first time at a State Championship…and all I had to do was ask.
Mark- Next time let’s do what it takes to get our trailer or big BHA banner in the competition area to promote BHA. If we are a minor sponsor, it’s time to be a big one!

We missed the boat big time because we did not have a booth. But like Mark said we need more volunteers. We also need to invest in a booth display. It can be used at Buckmasters, NASP, Bowmania, and other events.
It would be a wise investment of BHA funds.
Bingo!!! This needs to be a priority! This would be a good topic for that brainstorming session that someone mentioned on here.
And Mark is correct, we need more volunteers at all events.

That’s for letting me and my son help out, we had a blast with all the kids and boy can they shoot. To see their faces when they hit the 12 ring was exciting (unknown distance and genesis bow 20+ yards). My son Jordan and I had a great time and look forward to next year’s event. We need to get a better spot than in a hole hidden away from the main event for next year. I can see a big BHA opportunity to reach both parents and children if we had the volunteers and a booth at the event. These kids are the future of the BHA, the more we do to help them get involved in archery now, will help the BHA, local clubs and all archery programs in the State. Local chapters should be contacting their schools that have NSAP program to invite them out to a 3D shoot and if your school don’t have a NASP program then get one started. Please volunteer you’ll be glad you did.

Jason, I agree wholeheartedly. We do need to invest in a attractive and serious booth and attend all of the outdoor shows. I will get some prices together for the May meeting for a booth display. If we want bowhunters to take us serious we need to take the trade shows serious. It will be a great investment.
