Well this years Southern Zone Championship was a trial in endurance and skill for the archers that came out to Russell County to participate. The range was very difficult to hold on the targets and the terrain and footing made it a very challenging course. The severe thunderstorm that came up halfway through the tournament with thunder and lightning hitting the ground cleared the range for about 45 minutes. The Bryants were able to move most of the shooters into shelter from the storm until it passed. The heat though after the storm was pretty bad and for the old folks like me was pretty unbearable. There were a lot of kids that showed up to shoot and that always makes for a great day as they are indeed the future of our sport. Thanks to All of the folks that made this such an outstanding tournament even with the bad weather. A lot of hard work went into preparation and hosting this event. I look forward to seeing everyone either at the ASA State Shoot or the BHA State Championship in a few weeks.
