The grass is cut and the targets will be set tomorrow.
Tuscaloosa County Bowhunters are ready for a great turnout for this Central Zone Championship (oh, by the way, all you Northern and Southern folks are welcome to attend as well to see if you can outshoot our Central Zone folks….come if you dare!) See if you can beat us on our own turf……
The weekend weather looks great, no rain and high of about 90 degrees (we’ll have plenty of water).
BBQ, drinks and a novelty shoot will be available.
This is a really good shoot to get ready for the BOW-UP for Breast Cancer shoot, so bring your best game!!
I told Mark we would have some ice cold apples on the range, as well.
SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!!

Just to clear the air! This is the Central ZONE championship. NOT a leg of the BHA Championship series. I have had several calls about this.
I repeat this is NOT one of the required BHA Shoots! NOT!
Now! good luck to all of you central zone shooters.
I’m going to the beach.

Just another note to follow Scotties….
You do not have to be a Central Zone “member” to shoot or win the CZ Championship. ALL BHA members are invited. Just because you are a member in another Zone does not mean you cannot compete with others in ANY BHA sanctioned shoot or any other Chapter shoot in ANY zone.
WE ARE BHA! Any time we can support a shoot, we should.
The only BHA shoot this weekend is in Tuscaloosa.
We invite you shooters, from all Zones, to participate and show that we, as BHA members, support ALL BHA Chapters whenever possible.
I realize we all have to plan activities and our responsibilities to family, work and other activities compete for attention………..
But, remember, YOU are always welcome at any BHA shoot, and every Chapter appreciates your attendance.
No matter what you have scheduled this weekend, have a safe and blessed one!

To add on to Larry’s post. Mark specifically asked us at last year’s August board meeting not to schedule shoots on top of our zone championships in hopes of drawing archers statewide to each of the zone championships. The central zone does NOT have a shoot scheduled July 4th weekend because that is the North Zone championship. Hopefully central zone shooters will support them. After all, it is St Clair and they was once one of us.

I appreciate everything Tuscaloosa has set for this weekend. Sounds like it is going to be an exciting shoot! I encourage all shooters, members or not, to attend. It is a 2 day shoot and courtesy among the Chapters in BHA is expected and requested. I would expect that Tuscaloosa will have an amazing turnout for this Championship. I also have had calls and emails about this “Championship”. This is NOT for BHA State Shooter of the Year. This is a Zone Championship and the Central Zone SOY qualifications apply. Kenny (Moose24) will be able to clarify if anyone has questions on the qualifications. As far as I know, there are NO other BHA shoots scheduled for this weekend. There are a couple of other charity shoots happening that I know of and I am sure several that I haven’t heard of. Why not shoot BOTH days??? You know it’s addictive.

My intention is to go to all BHA Zone Championships, Championship Series, State Championship, BOWMANIA!, and BOW-UP for Breast Cancer.
I believe in many cases our “Zone Lines” are fences. We need to remove the fences and visit and participate in other shoots other than our own ZONE and to support ALL BHA Chapters that we can.
I’ll see you at St. Clair for the Northern Zone Championship. I encourage ALL of our Central Zone shooters to support this shoot (and take home some wins!!).
WE ARE BHA!

Well said Larry. We have one Zone for BHA and that is the State line. We are BHA and we know no boundaries.

I might be wrong in saying this but I am going to say it anyway. I was very disappointed at the turn out that I seen in Tuscaloosa today. I don’t know how many shooters there was but it was not enough. I understand people have things to do and all but come on this is a zone championship. Who would not want to take part in something like this give it there best 25 shots and have a chance to call themselves the central zone championship winner? All the chapters needs all the support they can get. All 3 zones do. I don’t make it to all them but I give it my best to support the chapters. Nothing but good to say to the Tuscaloosa gang for the work they put into this shoot this weekend. If you did not shoot today you need to shoot it tomorrow for sure. I challenge the north and southern zone shooters to come shoot this central zone championship shoot and see if you can take it away from us. Cause I go ahead and tell us I gonna come and try to bring yours home to the central zone. Better be ready. Lol
Good job Tuscaloosa would not have missed it for the world

Thanks to all the loyal BHA folks that turned out today!!!
You are the ones that make everything worth the effort.
We are hoping for a good turnout tomorrow and would love to see folks from the other Zones. Thanks to Phillip Murphy and two friends for making the trip from LA…and Crocker and friends from the NZ.
Thanks to Charmen, Charles , and Chris for your posts.
Remember, WE ARE BHA…and Chapters thrive when members realize that BHA is not a “Zone” , but a group of folks dedicated to promote archery and bow hunting by participation…
Hope to see all BHA members at the Bow-Up for Breast Cancer shoot at Heritage next weekend!!
I’ll be there with the Central Zone folks!

Well Tuscaloosa thanks for hosting our bha central zone championship..y’all had a decent shoot surprised by the lack of participation for it to be the only shoot this weekend. Did expect a bigger crowd. But with the Alabama summer bearing down and kids outta school I can kinda see the numbers beginning to fall off…however I do feel there was an issue that needs to be addressed and it mostly affects the classes that shoot split yardage. Saturday the course was shot from target 1-25 with 1-12 being unknown yardage and 13-25 being known.on Sunday when we arrived and signed up were told that we will start on target 25 and shoot backwards with 25-13 being unknown and 12-1 being known distance…with this being called a championship shoot and with soy points at stake the course should have shot the same both days.the Saturday bunch ended up with more known distance targets than the Sunday crowd that shot the split yardage classes and it was not comparing apples to apples by not shooting the same targets in the same manner be it known or unknown. I do not feel that this was done in fairness to all shooters and do hope the bha looks at this for future reference and would consider throwing out these scores for soy races due to the manner in which the range was shot on Saturday vs. Sunday

Sorry I could not make it this year. I may try to hit a couple more shoots here and there but for the most part you want see me much. I personally don’t like the split classes where you shoot half and half. I have seen this cause some confusion this year.
We have had nothing but positive feedback on the ASA rules at our club. Good on BHA for adopting them!! But I’m with Alan, I think you should shoot it the same way both days. Especially for a championship.

Maybe Wayne (our Tuscaloosa president) can add some sunshine for the reverse decision for Sunday.
I just enjoy archery and the friends. I shot Saturday (shot at them, anyway) and was wondering about the reverse order….
Most of the ASA change has been a bit confusing to Chapters and some members.
Stay tuned…
