Seven us went to southwest Colorado. It was wonderful. We were in elk every day. I missed a cow…well hit a tree in route to missing her. One 5×5 was taken. I had a blast. Nothing like hearing those bulls screaming at you. Already planning on next years trip. Can’t wait.
Did anyone else do any good on elk this season?

Awesome Barry.
You may have missed the cow, but the memories of the bulls screaming and the smell of the mountain air will last a lifetime.

You are so right. I came off of the mountain the first afternoon and told the outfitter that I had already gotten my moneys worth. It was all gravy from there. I am taking Becca next year I can’t wait to watch her face the first time we have a bull scream at us from close range. Priceless!

Would love to make the trip one year to harvest a good bull but just the trip to experience the sounds of nature that we don’t have around here would be priceless! Glad you had a good trip.

Nothing like the tingling going down your spine when you first hear a bull bugling!!
I’m headed to Colorado next week to see if I can tag a mule deer buck…and, hopefully hear elk music, as well.

i am close to being allowed to drive, with that said.I would like to take my bow to colorado, elk hunting next year. or chase a swamp donkey = moose.

Hunted unit 66 in Colorado. Diy . The first morning got into a small herd of elk that had about 5 cows and 2 bulls. Got this big boy before sun came up! 65 yard shot in am open meadow. Hunted for 5 more days with my buddy and we never saw another elk. />

congrats on the prime grade A Choice eating i had a neck roost once it was so much better than beef. i hope that someday they are stocked here in Bama like they did in TENNESSEE, they had their first hunt as i went to Iraq, in 2009, i was excited, but could not go, due to being on orders for the deployment. now that i am no longer in the military after28 years i can go.

it alked to a man at the duck commander show, he said, rmef was going to work with the dcnr, to accomplish that very thing. i know you said they tear up so much stuff, but i would like to hunt them with my bow, no guns, just archery for me.
