With over half of the season over I’m curious if anyone has any in the field experience that backs up the rut map that AON put out. I live in central Calhoun County a little west of the dividing line between what they are calling two different rut zones. I am in an area they are saying that ruts in early January to mid January. When bow season started I had one area that had a few rubs in it. A week or two later it was covered up with rubs. I have seen an increase in deer activity in the last week, I hope that the map is accurate and that the best is yet to come for my area. Does the map match your area?

Ross,
I would say that the publication, generally speaking, is fairly accurate. although, in my experience, in recent history, I have seen some of the areas up toward the northastern part of the state, the rut is not in full swing until February, when the season is over.
