Does anyone know if/when/where this certification program may be offered in the future? Thanks.

No scheduled dates for next year yet. Usually as needed when enough people need it, i.e. guys going out west to hunt and the urban deer control program requirement. Late spring and summer usually though.

Is there someone to contact about setting one up? Don’t know exactly how many it would take to do it but I could probably get together a group that would at least come close to filling a class. I’ve emailed the contact listed on outdooralabama.com but can’t get a reply. Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

No dates for 2013 have been posted. Johnny Gottler has been our (BHA) IBEP man for many years.
He has done a great job in keeping this valuable program alive within BHA. I believe he is currently looking for someone to take this IBEP position and continue. Health issues are overtaking his “bulldog” approach to supporting this program as he has in the past. Just as any chairperson or officer position within BHA, it is valuable and necessary that we continue this program to support our constitution and by-laws.
At our first meeting in 2013, it would be a boost for BHA to have volunteers step up to help with this program.
Several of us “ol’ guys” that have carried the torch for BHA for many years (myself included), are overjoyed when others step in with the passion to bring BHA forward with new resolve and purpose.

As Larry has said, I have some health issues, but slowly working them out. You just wear the body out as you age.
Have been feilding some questions about IBEP. Anyone that wishes to set up a course, can follow the following.
Minium 10 – 15 people to take the course. Anything less is hard to work around. Get your group up, find a meeting point, needs to have trees and a wooded area. Need to have access to drinks, water and maybe snacks.
The group needs to take and pass the olnile distance course. Then we set up a practical day. At the Practical Day you need to bring a hard copy of your passing certificate, for the records. You can also bring your archery gear. At the UDCP it is required.
The Course does not have to be sanctioned by the BHA. It can be a group of individuals, sporting goods supplier, archery club or hunting club. We will do the course for anyone that needs one.
Anyone that I have not gotten back to, please bear with me.
There is also a group in the B’ham area that is trying to get one up for Feb. Also another group from south Ms. that would like to host one.

Anyone interested in becoming an IBEP Instructor, I hope to have the new Regional Master Instructor try to get one up for us. No details on that at this time. Be sure you can pass a background check. I’ve got several clearances and still had to go thru one.

As always IBEP has been a large part of the last 30 plus years for me, and I hope to keep it giong for another 100yrs.
If I can help you in any way feel free to call on me. It maytake me a while to get back to your e-mails, but I will.

johnny- i don’t know what is your health issue , but it is none of my business, i had a stroke almost a year ago. i am walking and shooting my bow, but i do have balance issues on uneven ground. i hop i get to learn how to get back into my stand if i fall out. over the year that has concerned mei have and use the hss harness.i like it, but i can see it would be no fun to get back into my stand or back on the ground whichever the case might be i don’t own any land so i can’t volunteer that. i am all about ibep and safety.so i am all ears
