what is the preferred vanes your shooting ? i have flex-Fletch low profile vanes and fusion 2.1 vanes that i really like they are tough holdup to whisker biscuits well don’t come off like the blazers do. then i have bought and fletched the aae max hunter vanes plus some 3 inch fusion vanes, to steer my muzzy mx 4 , 4 blade broad heads.Robert at backwater told me to shoot 4 inch high profile vanes with those heads, Chris told me i will be fine with the max hunter vanes.i have not put on the 3 inch fusion lately due to moving in my new house.i also bought some ramcat 100 grain broad heads, that the vanes won’t matter as much as the mx4 heads.so i still have my razor tricks and viper tricks. so far i am waiting for 15 October.

i use the fLp-400 on my crossbow arrows, and the fusion vanes 2.1 on my gold tip arrows. the flex fletch now come with the glow in the dark so you don’t need lighted knocks which you can’t use on a pope and young record book entry.today i ordered 40 max hunters from AAE.they are tall high profile vanes made to sttabilize fixed blade broad heads.

the fusion 2.1 steer broadheadsbetter than somevanes i have read.because they are taller than most vanes, i looked into quickspins, but decided against them, because they are very noisy, more so than a lot of broadheads.i do know these fusion vanes are quiet.after a lot of looking and reading i found max hunters to be the tallest.they are 2.1″ long but.590″ tall

i am about to become an ArizonaAarcheryEnterprises man.their max hunter is an awesome but their pro max, is even better.Chris at backwater said they are good ones to have on my arrows.according to AAE the pro max is their 3D vanes.so i will get some of them, they are similar to the fusion 2.1 in specs.

my question got posted in aldeer before things went south, Shaw said tall vanes will steer slick tricks better i guess he agrees with Joe bell and Chris coultas. either way i have 40 coming, to use my slick tricks and muzzy with.i read a post in archery talk forum, the guy says his slick tricks hit where his field points hit at 60 yard using these vane no mention to which slick trick or how windy it was that day .i am learning fletching so to speak i can get mine to stick well.i agree feathers would be best, but i don’t want to go away from plastic vanes, plus one guy said Fletch 4 vane over three, i don’t want to get that slow.the flp400 low profiles work great in the crossbow, but in my compounds i believe tall vanes is the deal for fixed blade broad heads.any of them will be OK with mechanical s, but i have excaliber bolt cutters and MX4 4 blade muzzy s, and viper trick and razor tricks i was wanting what will steer them best , the answer i found was tall vanes, but short to not lose a lot of speed, and lessen wind drift.i got to close before time runs out the veteran center is having a cook out today for all vets at 415 church street from 11:00 to 1400.i hope to see more vets there. i will be there in my Christmas present, my jeep:)… bye ! ! ! ! !

Vane tec low profile
i went to vane tech site last night, and remembered why i was not impressed, i had them over 20 years ago, and then i felt they were cheap i didn’t like them not as accurate as to what i was fletching at the outdoors man, i am not trying to be rude or mean i honestly didn’t like their vanes, i thought then of going back to feathers.i do like low profile vanes, they are fast and quite, and for the most part accurate.the fusion 2.1 vane is sort of like a low profile vane.compared to the max hunter which is a high profile vane of.590″ tall the fusion is only .45″ tall.

someday i will get around to measuring these flex fletch low profile vanes i have right now i don’t know how short/tall they are , but i do know they will not drag in my crossbow flight rail groove like the fusion do.

aae makes a fast setting gel that is said to stick to most anything, i read the i need to use zing fletching primer and aae max bond on these vanes.so soon i will have to go to lowes and get some denatured alcohol, they say don’t use acetone with some of their vanes i have acetone and mek. when i worked at aircraft designs we used that stuff to clean paint guns.the mek is wicked stuff, it will tell you of a cut on your hand, you didn’t know was there, you will dance across the floor it burns so bad in a cut, but have a scab by sunrise, if you can stand the stinging. this fast setting gel is no gel at all, it is actually super glue.

I use 800 grit paper to scuff my shafts just the first 4 inches then wipe them with lacquer thinner to clean them. As for vanes i use bohning blazer 2 in vanes on my arrows but will be using the 1 3/4 x vane when they come in. Seems that as for glue I have used easton carbon express and fletchtite it all seems on work equally good.
