I have had two the worst cases of buck fever this year. None were on large bucks. In fact, it has been just the opposite. A spike and a few doe have made me fall apart. So much so that I killed a small tree at 18 yards this weekend shooting at a doe. LOL
I have shot great when practicing. Just can’t seem to hold it together. Man is it a rush though.
Gotta love bowhunting!

At least you are seeing some, buddy. I have been absolutely skunked this year, so far. Have not even seen a deer while hunting. See’um on the road goin’ in and coming out, in the back end of pickups and hangin’ at the processors…that’s it.
When you get another shot, Barry, just imagine you see a McKensie logo on his rump and shoot it like a 3-D target!

It happend to me last weekend on army corp land. Had a 6-point at 35 yards and never got set, just jerked it. Would have been my best buck on public land. It comes and goes, I can shoot 5 in a row real come and totally fall apart on the next two. Bucks or does does not matter.
Keep hunting my friend.

Barry, trees are good for making the fire or smoking the meat. They don’t taste very good no matter how you cook them. Shoot the deer and let the trees continue to grow so I’ll have something to build houses or cabinets out of in the future.
Peace!!

Never had the proper tag to shoot one when I saw it! LOL Spot and Stalk hunting doesn’t seem to tear me up as bad as sitting in a tree. After the shot is an entirely different thing. I almost passed out after I shot my elk with my bow in CO years ago.
The only thing I can blame for my buck fever is that I haven’t been shooting near as much 3D as I have in the past 15+ years. Hunting hogs all the time just hasn’t allowed me to get out and work on my shot like I wish I could. I have to believe it is all tied to confidence somehow. 3D is GREAT practice!

Glenn,
We have had lots of spot and stalk shots in the 5-30 yard range so far. Of course, we can do tree stand hunts over feeders as well and those will all be around 20 yards. But, the spot and stalk is by far the most exciting. The hunter really has to be on their game to do this. Some folks can’t walk through a china shop without breaking stuff. Good quiet snake boots are a must. Good camo including face paint for bowhunters is a big help. And if at all possible practice shooting from your knees some. Getting close may require some low sneaking and shooting.
