I am not one to argue too much, but I felt like this might need to be addressed. I was on facebook yesterday, on the BHA page, and scrolled down to find information about the timing of the shoot today. Well I found the electronic flyer below…. Now I have looked this thing up and down and cannot find on here where it said you have to be present at 10 to shoot in the tourney. I planned to get there a little later ( I had a project I was working on that needed the coolest air of the day) so I decided that I probably could get there before lunch. Well I text a friend about 9:20 and to my surprise he tells me that if I wanted to shoot, I needed to be there by 10. I immediately throw down what I was doing get my stuff, kiss my wife goodbye, and drive like a maniac and arrive in AC at 10:05…. and park at the back of the line, so by the time I got to the registration table, it is 10:11 by my watch. I was greeted and quickly told I could shoot for fun, but not be considered for the tournament. I didn’t even string my longbow, and turned around and walked back to the truck and left. So here is my plea to the BHA brain trust…….. PLEASE, PLEASE, update all info where ever you put or post it to reflect whatever adjustments in timing you may have worked out. I thought I was looking at good info on the facebook page, but it cost me the risk of getting a speeding ticket, and 65 miles and fuel costs, and a little less than 1.5 hours out of my Saturday just to find out that I couldn’t shoot….
Sandy, my sincere apology!!!! When I made the flyer I was not aware that there was an early cutoff for the shoot and just learned abot it this morning. Apparently it has to be that way because the scores must be tabulated along with the prior trail shoots for the award presentation. The banquet and award ceremony is tonight. This apparently is the only event of the year that has an early cutoff and this was my first state championship. Extremely sorry but very glad you did not get ticket or into an accident. -Glenn Campbell
