Hello everyone. My name is Jack. I’ve been bowhunting for the past 2 seasons but have never shot 3D. After spectating at the big ASA shoot in Cullman last year I decided I needed to join and see what it was about. I look forward to the season and plan to make as many shoots in the Central Zone as possible. I look forward to meeting everyone this upcoming season. Any advice or recommendations will be much appreciated.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet everyone but I look forward to it. I’m going to make the Chilton County shoot in February my first, so hopefully I will see everyone there. Is there a limit on bowspeed for Bowhunter B Class? If so, who could I get to chrono my setup?

Yes, the speed limit is 280 your class. An archery shop should have a chrono. But I would call first before you make the drive. Archery Unlimited has one I know. They are in Prattville.

That’s a long ride from Hoover, but I have wanted to shoot there on Monday nights. Gives me a good reason to go. Thanks for your help.

Jack- You will be close to Prattville (Archery Unlimited) when you go to shoot in Chilton County. Just go by Rick’s shop and he will get you set up and you can check your bow speed.
Hope to see you there after the BHA board meeting.

hello i am mike crenshaw i live in huntsville/ madison county i joined even thou i had a stroke on 15 april 2012i have been archery hunting all my life, i dearly love archery.i made it to the shoot wobbling and limping, but never made it on the trail, i am sorry i was 3 hours late but i got tired of all the rushing and slept in, i look forward to going hunting this fall, my doctor would not let me go deer hunting last year so i have missed out on a lot i greatly appreciate all the prayers and wel wishes i do know god has heard them i am a lot better than i was a few months ago i probably should have brought my cane to the shoot but it don’t have a string on it. i have not ever killed a buck with a bow, yes a lot of does in tennessee and i hope this fall my luck will change and get my first alabama bow buck..i really like having friends, you can’t have too many. i am not helpless at 59 years old this summer in july i turn 60. yes i am old but still alive. my son has my golf clubs i was thinking if i had my cleats i could have made it around due to the slickness of the rain.i hope all this one hand typing makes scense.my right arm is getting tired. so i will close i hope to meet my new family in june at the next shoot i will be there good lord willing.i still go to physical therapy twice aweek. so i hope i will be able to compete i can turn my bow down to 5 pounds to help my left arm holding steady.. god bless see ya’ll soon i live at 190 sawmill road. which is closer to new market.

i manage to live long enough to make it to60 by july 26th i will be 61, and still limpingi have left my cane at home several times my wife asked why, i said cause i don’t need it, but she bought me a walker, that has a chair so i can sitdown, it hurts me to stand around, so when i go to backwater i hit the couch, it makes her mad when i doi have been tested i can stand for 20minutes, but the pain, of doing nothing makes me mad.

Jack – Welcome to the Familythere is a bunch of folks, in this organation i have never met, not sure when i will, you can and will learn a lot here, i am not sure how they are going to slow the bows down, since the industry keeps speeding them up, speed sells.my little some call a beginner bow ibo 310fps, as it is the present speed limit was 280 feet per second.the only way i got my alpine to shoot that slow was heavy arrows, and point.some have told me that mine will not shoot the 280limit.i don’t have a chrony, and have not shot through one, yet.as my flight surgeon used to say it will be alright.

enjoy the wonderful world of 3D archery, that will help keep your skills in fine tune to kill a deer or turkey.

i do know the deer can not tell the difference in speed, if your bow is quick enough they won’t jump the string.my alpine i used to say hey to the deer and laugh as they could not get out of the way of the arrow quick enough,so for shooting real live deer expect them to drop a little to the noise of the release. aim low and you will be perfect. they run into the arrow.
