I shot at the Autauga County bowhunter appreciation day and heard a good idea that was mentioned but not really discussed in detail. I like it though so will submit it here for discussion. The BHA tournament rules are setup for the trail shoots and the state shoot. Club shoots can be setup as the club wants them to be. So, my suggestion is that clubs take their scheduled shoots and make them no speed limit for those classes that they feel should be set that way and let’s document their successes and use this to prepare for the May board meeting for next year. If we take this information from the clubs that are trying these things we can then pass a better set of rules for the next year. If we get the word out to our members that we are trying this and get interest started back people will come and shoot the local shoots and give us needed feedback on what we are trying to accomplish. If we use the current BHA rules minus the speed limits, we should be able to get more participation from those that have not came back to our BHA shoots.

we have all these great ideas, But Come February and May, we will have the same old ten or twenty people at the meetings. if you really Give a Crap Bring your ideas to the meetings or get off your Horse! I have read some great ideas on here the last month, where were they in February. Don’t complain because something didn’t happen! Get out and Make it happen. a lot of these things need changed and Should have been already. so lets keep a log of all who have had a post on these topics and lets just see, Who is full of hot air and who really cares. If this Many people really care it will be the Biggest Meeting Ever. See you guys in February!

I really like that little “Thank” button at the top of a post.
Thanks to EVERYONE who reply to these posts. It shows support and INVOLVEMENT in BHAactivities and ideas!
That is what we meed more of to move and improve our organization.
For those of you who rarely post or reply…get on your keyboard and get ACTIVE. We need ACTIVE members that care about building BHA and not just sitting in the dark.
Your ideas and thoughtful remarks are welcomed and attention is given.

If you don’t want to post on the forum, at least use the “Thank You” button. It lets us know where BHA members stand on issues and topics. We all want one thing, more participation in Bowhunting and 3D archery in Alabama.

Thanks for the Thank You button Glenn!!

Why cant we vote on some issues on this website……list every BHA members name…how they voted on the issue …………..total the votes……then they are no questions on how people voted…. Board meetings for more important issues…………simple enough………..

Good Point! It would be a good idea to post an on line Vote just to see what the majority thinks, Not that the Vote has to be official but it would give those of us that are the meetings an idea of what the members want. Lets break it down more than that,

Club presidents have a club meeting to let the club know what is going on.
Zone Directors have a meeting with zone presidents to fine tune the proposals for the board meeting.
All three Zone directors meet and further fine tune the proposals to meet the needs of the entire state.

Most of the things that we vote on are never discussed until the last minute. even the People that are running for officer positions don’t even make it known until the august board meeting. these positions are very important and should be well thought out ,not a decision made at the last second.

Prime example, the New Tournament Directors Position. he wasn’t even at the meeting. First Don’t get me wrong ,I like the Guy Personally, but I don’t even know how he feels. when was he ask? what is the plan for next year? this job if done correctly is a BIG DEAL! my Whole Point is! these people that are willing to accept these positions should let everybody(BHA Family) know their intent months before. AND THEY SHOULD BE ON THIS SITE EVERY DAY!!!!!

I like the idea of voting online or at least having polls. But keep in mind that Kenny did that exact same thing with the speed limit rule. I was the only one that voted to keep it the same, then it failed at the meeting. I don’t know how it can have that kind of support then not go through, but I say get the polls up and running. Somebody start one, this is how things are changed and ideas are formed.

having polls or survey is an excellent way to determine the overall mindset. but only if ALL members are given the opportunity to participate. If you just post a few questions as as post and expect to get a reasonable synopsis from a very small group of people that are logging into the forum each day you will miss the boat. Kenny’s previous poll vs actual vote is just a little proof of this.

Online surveys asking many questions is easy to do with the proper software and questions…..We can easily do this and have the results for the February meeting. The most difficult is to ask the RIGHT questions Not just about how fast you want to shoot your bow but sensitive questions that have not been answered before.

Sample:
How effective do you think BHA has been in accomplishing its mission of Education.
How effective do you think BHA has been in accomplishing its mission of Fellowship.
How effective do you think BHA has been in accomplishing its mission of Conservation
How long have you been bowhunting?
How many of your family members are active archers?
What areas of Alabama do you bow hunt?
What type of bows do you shoot? Compound, Recurve, Longbow, Crossbow
You can ask multiple choice, essay, check box, etc type questions.
You can ask questions to Rate the members interest in various programs or activities such as
Master Bowhunter Program
Antler Scoring Class

and on and on

Questions should be ask to help evaluate the membership so best rules and policies can be made and what would the members like to see in new programs and activities. Otherwise we are trying to make decisions on a few members. I need to ask many questions of content of website and why people do not participate in trophy award programs and stuff like that. Zone Directors need to ask questions about how their chapters are doing, if they are meeting the needs of members and how many members of each chapter are BHA members….

Take a month or two and during that time all of us devise the questions and then I can put it into a Online Survey and send it to ALL members and seek knowledge and wisdom!!! lol

It will take work but if you seek knowledge you will have to work.

One of the main questions I would like to ask our BHA members (but cannot get to them)…
Why are our BHA members not utilizing this website to the fullest?

We talked about this last night at our Central Zone meeting and do not understand why….
Our Central Zone Director, Kenny, called a meeting of Chapter representatives and we had a creative session filled with ideas and discusion. Much of this small group discusion cannot be made on the Internet, but, many of our questions and opinions can be posted for others to comment and review.
For some reason the membership, as a whole, is not responding to the call to “join the conversation”.
Those few that do post and “stay in touch” are what I call “the movers and the shakers”…these are the ones that want to present ideas and see that the future of BHA depends on INVOLVEMENT, SUPPORT, INTERACTION, VOLUNTEERING and CREATIVE IDEAS for us to grow and expand.
Maybe we, the BHA membership, do not have the drive or passion to invision an organization of 10,000, 30,000, 40,000…

But, as I post, I realize that I am preaching to the choir….the ones that ARE using this website ARE the ones that want BHA to grow…Wink
